VOLUNTEERS

As a voluntary organisation, a successful Nippers program at Beaumaris Life Saving Club is only possible with the support of parents and guardians. Your involvement helps make Nippers a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience for all. We want your children to feel proud to be part of our club – a place where they build water and beach safety skills, develop teamwork, and above all, have fun.

The families involved in our Club are all local, and you’ll likely recognise many faces from local schools. The support of willing parents makes everything run smoothly – and the kids absolutely love seeing their parents involved (let’s face it – you’re on the beach anyway!).

Parent Helpers

Please when you come down to the beach with your Nipper be ready to jump in and help out. We have a very small but enthusiastic group of helpers and would benefit from more helping out. And your little Nipper would love it! We are here to help you know how to get on/off a board and paddle with the Nippers and feel confident helping out. Every Nipper family must volunteer to help for two sessions in the season, but really we’d love you every week.

Age Managers

Being an Age Manager is a rewarding role. You’ll help facilitate fun and engaging sessions where Nippers learn practical lifesaving skills – like how to signal for help, identify a rip, run safely in shallow water, and participate in a range of sand, board and water activities (depending on age group, weather and water quality).

Each age group has two or more Age Managers overseeing Nippers on the beach or in the water. Age Managers must be 18+, hold a valid Victorian Working With Children Check (WWCC) linked to Beaumaris LSC and Life Saving Victoria, and complete a short online training course. Age Managers are also eligible for a discounted membership fee. We love our Age Managers!

Water Safety

Water Safety Personnel (WSP) must be qualified and proficient in Bronze Medallion or SRC. WSP report to the WSS and at all times are to be aware of the safety and welfare of those involved in the program. If you are interested in Bronze Medallion or SRC please reach out.
